About Valpolicella and Trentinto Alto-Adige

Valpolicella:

Located in the Veneto region just north of romantic Verona, Valpolicella offers lush, varied landscapes dotted with vineyards, olive trees, and cypress groves. This pastoral setting produces the celebrated Valpolicella blend of Corvina, Corvinone, and Rondinella grapes, used for both the rich and famous Amarone and its approachable sibling, Ripasso. We curate visits to both historic and innovative wineries to offer you a full spectrum of styles.

The cuisine here reflects the richness of the land, featuring hearty ragu (both red meat and white poultry versions), Verona’s traditional gnocchi, and adventurous local dishes like horse stew. Regional specialties include Grana Padano, Asiago, Monte Veronese cheeses, and the famed sopressa salumi.

Trentino-Alto Adige

Just north of Valpolicella, Trentino-Alto Adige stretches into the dramatic Italian Alps, blending Italian and Austrian influences. This bilingual region, once ruled by Austria, is famed for its precision wine-making and breathtaking alpine scenery, perfect for combining tastings with skiing, hiking, or spa retreats.

Wine production here dates back to the Etruscans, and today both indigenous and international grapes thrive. Native varietals like Nosiola, Teroldego, and Lagrein are making a strong comeback, alongside refined whites such as Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc, and Gewürztraminer. Red wines, including Pinot Noir and Cabernet Franc, also shine, showcasing the region’s diverse terroir and alpine elegance.
